May. 22nd, 2002 11:34 pmI had a dream, Joe. You were standing in the middle of an open road. I had a dream, Joe. Your hands were raised up to the sky, and your mouth all covered in foam.
None of which is at all even vaguely true. If I had any dreams last night they were about tossing and turning and looking at the clock a bunch, which is entirely possible, but I like to pretend that more interesting things go on in my head when my lights go out. However, that's been stuck in my head for no good reason, so maybe this will exorcise it. I didn't play DDR at all today. I think maybe I'll rectify this by playing until I pass out tomorrow. This seems like a logical solution, right?
So today was the EA interview. Bused my way up, though I suppose I could have caltrained, bus timing just worked better though. Trotted over to the office. I had forgotten what corporate vibe feels like. I haven't missed it much. And it's not like I was interviewed by a tribunal in business suits, but there's just a particular atmosphere that comes with collections of humans. The whole is less than the sum of its parts. People I like. Groups of them, not so much. Really bizarre interview. I think after a while they just got bored and started fucking with me. That, or I accidentally signed up for the interview/therapy session double-header. Certainly the first job that wanted to know what animal I would be if I could be any animal for a day, or what sort of waterfall I'd describe myself as. Have I mentioned how much I hate interviews lately? Ok, good. Just so long as you're up to date. I would have much preferred a nice barrage of perl questions, but unfortunately, it's not that kind of job.
Interview went by pretty fast. Got to say hi to Danielle quickly while I was there, then back to public transit for me. Finished Lamb (The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal). Now I'm sad again. I hate finishing books. It was pretty good all the way through.
The Messiah was holding the little girl's pet bunny, hugging it to his cheek with the big back feet swinging free. He was gloriously drunk. "Know what?" Josh said. "I love bunnies. They toil not, neither do they bark. Henceforth and from now on, I decree that whenever something bad happens to me, there shall be bunnies around. So it shall be written. Go ahead Biff, write it down." He waved to me under the bunny, then turned and started back through the gate. "Where's the friggin' wine? I got a dry bunny over here!"
As far as biblically themed comedy goes, it's still no Good Omens, but it beats reading Leviticus. Finding myself bereft of reading material, I'm now borrowing Timequake from Dan. I think I should read more Vonnegut. I went through a brief Vonnegut kick in junior high, but I don't think I've read any in years. Made some phonecalls then packed up Timequake and went a-wandering. Ended up at Neutral Ground where I dorked around for a while. They've got an ultracade there, which is basically an arcade standup with about 30 old-school arcade games packed in it. I can still beat Side Arms on one quarter. Go me. Finally got to play Carcasone also. It's fun. But none of you care. Well, maybe Will does. Tromped back to Dan's and read email. Looks like I got the EA gig. I guess they approved of my choice of animals. Need to give them a call tomorrow and figure shtuff out. Huzzah n' stuff. Also, gonna go geek with Todd tomorrow. Fun-fun.
