May. 21st, 2002 11:55 pmI can feel my mind going Dave.
So, I woke up early this morning because I thought I had a job interview today. Got up all bleary eyed, wandered to computer and opened up the little file I'd written all the information down in (It's strange how written is still an acceptable, if not quite correct word. Kind of like still calling CD's albums). Hrm. Wednesday the 22nd. Righty-o, back to bed for me. I really would have liked to have had the interview today because 1) That means it would be out of the way, and I wouldn't have to go tomorrow and 2) I could have gone down to LA with Simon for E3, which would have been just the sort of break of my daily routine that I've been needing. Oh well, I have hot convention action happening this weekend already, and too much geekiness might throw off the delicate yin/yang geek to "human who bathes" balance I try to maintain. Speaking of geekery, I need to make a city for the CCG I kinda work on, Warlord. That means I need to get all creative, and creativity is hard, or more precisely, it's not hard, because it's not anything you can really work at. It's either there or not, and I don't tend to plumb that part of my head very much. Oh well.
Anyway, backlog. Monday, usual routine. Woke up, turned on DDR machine, fetched mail, played DDR until my legs hurt, showered, watched Simpsons, etc. Called up Patty to see if she was going to Death Guild, and if I could come with, received double positives. Drove up to the city talking and singing along with the Seabound CD. Got to the club relatively early. Patty procured us drinky girltastic goodness in the form of Amaretto Sours. Was a pretty good night all told, though Patty kept beating me up on the dance floor. Got to see Danielle out at Death Guild in the first time in forever. Talked to Simon and Yen also, and it's been a while since I interacted with either of them much. Missing a lot of the regulars though. Dave King DJed for the first hour or so we were there, and he's always good for a bunch of songs I like but don't hear very much anymore. Warm Leatherette, Weeping Song, and Mad World, though I've gotten so accustomed to the Gary Jules version by now that I barely remembered what the Tears for Fears one sounded like. The music seems too bouncyhappy for the lyrics. (All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces, bright and early for their daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere). After the club Patty and I were both fiending for food, so we got jack in the box from the most inept cashier ever. After about the 5th time trying to correct the sizes of our drinks, we just cut our losses and hoped that we hadn't infuriated him to the point of spitting on our food. Then Dan's house and sleep!
Dan finally came back today. He seems to have had a good time on the ride, so yay! We went out to La Fiesta and then to go see Episode 2, which was pretty much as I expected. Not going to give any spoilers because Will would kill me, but in summary it would be nice if George Lucas actually came up with some new dialogue/plot/whatnot, or failing that, just made silent films. I cringed at almost every line of dialogue. But it was pretty, and that was pretty much all I expected. Better than Episode 1, but then again, what isn't? Hrm, what movies are coming out that I actually want to see? Bartleby (mmmm, Crispin Glover), CQ (mmmm, movies about making movies. Meta-movie) . And, hrm, I know there are more, but I can't remember them right now. Oh well. I think it's sleepy time before interview tomorrow.
